The University of Nairobi hosted the first ever UNESCO World Engineering Day in the country today. March 4, was set aside on Nov 29th 2019 during the 40th UNESCO general conference held at Melbourne Australia to celebrate World Engineering Day. The day brought together engineers from all fields as well as students from both secondary and tertiary institutions.

Membership to a professional body is paramount to an Engineering students' holistic development. With this mind,the Engineering Students Association in partnership with the Institute of Engineers of Kenya organised for a registration drive on Wednesday, 5th February 2020.

Students from Starehe Girls visited the School of Engineering for educational purpose. The students were received by Prof. Ayub Gitau (Dean School of Engineering) and Prof. Faith Karanja (Chairman Department of Geospatial and Space Technology)

Such visits offer students an insight into the courses available for them and how to qualify for them. It also aims at increasing the uptake of STEM courses among students as they interact with staff and university students who are already pursuing the courses.
